How Do You Want to Set Up?

  • Connecting via wireless router (recommended)

This is the connection method for home or office networks that are connected using a wireless router. We recommend this method since it allows you to use Epson Connect services that use the Internet. You will need the password for your wireless router. This method allows you to make Wi-Fi settings for the printer using Epson iPrint.

  • Connect Directly (Wi-Fi Direct)

This is the connection method when you are not using a wireless router at home or at the office. The printer and the smart device are connected directly. You can connect to up to eight smart devices. Since Wi-Fi Direct is a local network that does not connect to the Internet, you cannot use services that use the Internet. You can connect only when using the printer. This method allows you to make Wi-Fi Direct settings for your smart device.

  • Connect to a printer that is already connected to your network

When the printer is connected to the network, connect the smart device to the same network (SSID) as the printer. You can use the printer from the smart device.

  • When you do not know how to make Wi-Fi settings for the mobile device

Display the Wi-Fi settings screen for the mobile device, select the network that you want to connect to, and then enter the password.

  • When you are using iPhone or iPad (iOS device)

Select [Settings] - [Wi-Fi] to display the Wi-Fi screen.
Turn on Wi-Fi, and then tap the network that you want to connect to from the network list. Enter the password on the password entry screen, and then tap [Join].

  • When you are using an Android device

Select [Settings] - [Wi-Fi] to display the Wi-Fi screen.
Turn on Wi-Fi, and then tap the network that you want to connect to from the network list. Enter the password for the network, and then tap [Connect].

  • When you do not know the password for the wireless router

Check if the information is written on the label of the wireless router. On the label, the passowrd may be written "Encryption Key", "XXX Key", and so on. If you are using the wireless router with its default settings, the password written on the label is used. If you cannot find any information, see the documentation provided with the wireless router.

  • When the mobile device is connected to a dedicated mobile router

When you have a wireless router (access point) for your computer, connect the smart device and the printer to it. When you do not have a wireless router, connect the printer to the mobile router that the smart device connects to.
When the printer is not connected to a network, select "Connecting via wireless router". When it is connected to a network, select "Connecting to a printer connected to the network".

  • When you do not want to connect the smart device to the Wi-Fi network (SSID) that the printer is connected to

Connect the printer and the smart device directly using Wi-Fi Direct. You can use the printer over a Wi-Fi connection using a wireless router and by direct connection using Wi-Fi Direct.

  • If you are using tethering (internet sharing) on the mobile device

You cannot connect to the printer from the smart device when you are using tethering on the smart device. Disable tethering, and then connect to the printer.
When the printer is not connected to a network, select "Connecting via wireless router". When it is connected to a network, select "Connecting to a printer connected to the network".
