Triangular Megaphone

Hello. Greetings from Paper Play Factory Pepal. We create "paper play" in Hokkaido, Japan, and offer it to you so you can enjoy making it and decorating with it. This time we will show you how to make a megaphone for cheering at your child's field day or sporting events. It's easy to make a megaphone with a fun design using Epson Creative Print smartphone app. Cheer on your child or favorite athlete or team using your original, one-of-a-kind megaphone. When making a loud voice, make sure you are at your home. Don't forget to be considerate of your surroundings!

You will need...

Materials:

< For 1 megaphone >
  • Thick A4 size paper 4 sheets

Tools

  • Scissors
  • Ruler
  • Double-sided tape (or glue)
  • Pen

How to

  1. Choose "Collage" on the "Epson Creative Print" smartphone app home screen.
  2. Choose "New", and then choose the plain white rectangle without a photo at the very top.
  3. Tap the menu icon in the lower left to open a menu from the bottom. Choose "Change background" from the menu. A selection screen with a variety of colors and patterns will appear, so choose your favorite color or pattern.
  1. A full surface pattern is added. Tap the icon in the lower left again.
  2. Choose "Add text", and enter the name of the person or team you want to cheer on. The text will be displayed, so you can adjust the position, size, and angle.
  3. Tap the menu icon again, choose "Add stamp", and decorate with your favorite stamps.
Once you've done that, tap "Next", and print this on 3 sheets of A4 size paper. This will be the material for the main body of the megaphone.
  1. In the same way, print 1 sheet of A4 size paper in the color or pattern of your choice. This will be for the mouthpiece of the megaphone.
  1. Cut on the solid lines shown in the figure. After cutting, make a mountain fold along the folding line. Do this for all 3 sheets.
  1. Attach double-sided tape (or apply glue) to the blue section.
  1. Overlap the other sheets of paper on the sections with the double-sided tape attached so that all 3 sheets are connected together as shown in the figure, and then make mountain folds along the fold lines.
  1. Align and attach the ends to complete the main body of the megaphone.
  1. Next, we'll make the mouthpiece of the megaphone. Cut the single sheet of A4 size paper that you printed out for the mouthpiece as shown in the figure, and make 3 small squares.
  1. Cut off the parts shown with diagonal lines (left picture), and make mountain folds along the fold lines and attach double-sided tape to the blue sections (or apply glue, middle picture). Attach the 3 pieces to connect them together (upper right picture), and attach the ends to make a small megaphone (lower right picture).
  1. Insert the mouthpiece into the narrow end of the main body of the megaphone as shown in the figure (upper left picture). Once inserted, mark the part on the mouthpiece for a mountain fold with a pen at the location where the main body and the mouthpiece meet.
  2. Cut the mountain fold parts from the tip of the narrow part of the mouthpiece to the pen marking. Once they are cut, attach double-sided tape (or apply glue) to the blue section of the tips, and make valley fold creases.
  1. Insert the mouthpiece into the megaphone again, and attach it to the inside of the main body by spreading out the parts with double-sided tape attached. Your triangular megaphone is done!

Examples for Use

Try a variety of ideas, such as adding the photo or name of the athlete you'll be cheering for!

It is nice to use the picture of the whole team on a magaphone.

Make flags out of paper printed with the same photos or patterns as the megaphones and take them as a set to cheer with. Making small, triangular flags out of the scraps that were cut off when making the megaphone is also a good idea.

Try making an original, one-of-a-kind megaphone using the names or photos of your favorite team, country, or athlete in your design. Make megaphones featuring flags of all nations or the names of countries, and use them to get in the spirit when watching sporting events on TV!!!
