Halloween Cup 1 Pumpkin Cup

Hi, I'm Shiho Masuda, a gift wrapping designer living in Hawaii. Though based in Hawaii, I'm also working in other cities such as New York. Today I will show you how to make some goods perfect for Halloween, which is popular in Hawaii, New York and beyond.

To a lot of Americans, Halloween is about gathering together to enjoy dressing up! Everyone, young or old, dresses up as that year's most popular cartoon characters or heroes from Hollywood movies to participate in activities such as parties or parades.
Also, the kids go through the neighborhood from house to house shouting "Trick or treat!", and the adults respond by giving them candy. Every year many cheerful kids come to my house, and I always give them my handmade cups to put their candies in. How about making your own cute handmade cups to put Halloween candy in, just like me?

This time, I'll be showing you how to make a "Pumpkin Cup" and a "Witch Cup." These cups are not just for handing out candies. They also make fun, lively decorations for party tables!

First I'll show you how to make the Pumpkin Cup.

You will need...

Materials:

  • Design paper (choose patterns suitable for Halloween)
  • Paper cups (for paper patterns and cups)
  • Paper napkins
  • Candy and other sweets

Tools

  • Scissors
  • Double-sided tape
  • Pencil
  • Black pen

Before you start

  • Make sure you have your design paper ready in advance.
  • Don't forget, you can print design paper using the smartphone app "Epson Creative Print". If your model comes with a design paper option built in, you can print it straight from the printer.

How to

Cute, fun Pumpkin Cups. Let's put some candies inside and give them to the kids. Decorate your party tables and around the room to create a colorful and enjoyable atmosphere.
  1. Cut straight down the side of the paper cup to be used for a paper pattern with scissors, and cut off the bottom to create a fan-shaped paper pattern.
  1. Place the pattern on the design paper, and trace the outline of the shape with a pencil.
  2. Cut along the outline of the shape with scissors. This will make a design paper shape (bottom of picture) that is the same as the paper pattern (top of picture).
  1. Draw the monster face for your pumpkin (Jack-O-Lantern) in the center.
  2. Flip the shape over and put double-sided tape on both ends.
  1. Wrap the Jack-O-Lantern design around a paper cup and attach both ends with the double-sided tape.
  1. Make a handle to match the size of the paper cup. Cut the design paper to a suitable length and width, and attach double-sided tape to both ends (blue parts) of the front side.
  1. Attach both ends to the inside of the paper cup.
  2. Put some black napkins or tissue paper inside, and it's all done!
Put candies or other treats inside and give them to the kids!
